Lift Up the Fallen, Part 2

I clearly do not belong here, yet I am irresistibly drawn to the violence of it. Moshing is an essential element of death metal concerts.

High-tempo music performed by bands with names like As I Lay Dying and Coat Hanger Abortion fuels a convulsing, thrashing pit. Bodies surf across the top of the crowd until they fall to the floor or are captured by venue staff and sent back into the audience, only to begin again.

I'm challenging my own preconceptions about a unique culture of dedicated followers whom are often judged as angry, hostile, nefarious outcasts.

Despite appearances, there is actually a shared code of behavior: Respect the person next to you; don’t hurt anyone; and when you see someone fall, stop and lift them up.
